Sports & Management Research Institute (SMRI) is the cradle of many wonderful sports properties and initiatives such as Travancore Royals FC, India’s first fans-owned football club, Little People Sports Club, India’s first sports club for the little people, Fans-owned Sports Clubs, College Sports Leagues, School Sports Leagues, Paper Cricket, 3Wheeler Racing, Rickshaw Racing, Kolympics, Her Games, Golympics, Labour Olympiad, Umbrella Hockey and 11 Ps of Sports Marketing Mix
Homework, the assignment given to the students plays a great role in generating many crazy ideas. The idea of Travancore Royals F C originated from the SMRI Campus and the SMRI students did all the basics for the formation of India’s first fans-owned football club.
It was a homework for the sports management students of Sports & Management Research Institute (SMRI)– “Make a business plan for a sports club”. Arjun M J, one of the students came up with the plan for a community club. That was the small beginning of SPORTY KOCHI COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB.
